Friday, April 28th at 5pm, musician & synthesist Bana Haffar will join us in Room 324 for the semester's final synth workshop. Bana Haffar is an incredible live performer, and will demonstrate a dynamic performance patch. She will also discuss her recent work, including a composition for modular synth and Third Coast Percussion, based on Anni Albers' textiles, and her experiences as co-founder of the Beirut Synthesizer Center and the 'Modular On the Spot' event series.
Bana Haffar is a synthesist currently based in Montreal, Canada. She works within the realm of sound design and sample based music sequencing as they relate to various non-musical systems. She has released music with Touch (UK), Vent (Turkey), and Make Noise records (US) and composed for Grammy-winning percussion quartet Third Coast Percussion. In 2014 she, together with Eric Cheslak, founded Modular on the Spot in Los Angeles. She is a co-founder of the Beirut Synthesizer Center in Lebanon.
